Sheriff’s Office Shotgun Still Missing

— A shotgun that fell off a part-time deputy’s car had not been found as of Friday night, Benton County Sheriff Kelley Cradduck said.

“Hopefully, it is not in anyone’s possession,” Cradduck said. “We will be having another search for it.”

Deputy Mark Heiner was fired Thursday from the part-time division. The division is made up of volunteers who earn $1 a month and assist with some patrol functions.

Cradduck asked all part-time deputies to report Wednesday night to the Sheriff’s Office for an inventory check of equipment in their possession. Heiner placed the shotgun on the roof of his car as he prepared to leave the Sheriff’s Office. There is video of the vehicle leaving with the shotgun on top of the car, Cradduck said.

Cradduck said the shotgun wasn’t loaded but ammunition could easily be purchased for the gun.

The shotgun is a black 12-gauge Remington 870 pump action with a pistol grip and collapsible stock valued at $800, Maj. Rob Holly said.

Anyone who has information about the shotgun or finds it can call the Sheriff’s Office at 479-271-1008.
