University of Arkansas police are investigating a case of video voyeurism and theft of property stemming from an incident in which someone sent an e-mail demanding money from a male student under the threat of releasing a secretly recorded video.

UA police Lt. Matt Mills said the e-mail’s sender has yet to be identified. The incident, reported Tuesday, reportedly involves material the victim posted on the Internet.

“Somebody grabbed hold of it and is trying to use it against him,” Mills said.

Mills did not divulge the video’s contents, but said the victim is aware of what is on the video.
