Eastern north-south corridor preferred alignment released

An eastern north-south corridor linking Fayetteville and Rogers would include extending Arkansas 265 from Arkansas 264 to Arkansas 94 and improving other existing roads, according to a plan released today by the Arkansas Highway And Transportation Department.

The corridor would go from Arkansas 264 north along Old Wire Road, then add new road from Frisco Cemetery Road to South First Street in Rogers. The corridor would continue along South First Street and end at New Hope Road in Rogers, according to a news release from the department.

Planning and environmental studies for the project began in 2009, the news release stated. Next steps include more survey and design work followed by a public hearing on the design.
