NWA FISHING REPORT

Beaver Lake: Crappie fishing is fair with minnows or jigs on the south end of the lake, reports Garland Villines at Hickory Creek Marina.

Fish 5 to 15 feet deep, Villines said. The top jig colors are red or black with a chartreuse tail. Good areas to fish include Blue Springs and the War Eagle arm.

Black bass are biting jerk baits, Villines said.

Aaron Jolliff at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said crapkjpie fishing is fair to good on the south end of the lake. Try black/chartreuse tube jigs 5 feet deep under a float in water that’s 15 feet deep.

The White or War Eagle tributaries are good areas to fish.

Black bass are biting crawdad-colored crank baitsor shad-colored jerk baits along points or chunk-rock banks.

Stripers are biting in the Monte Ne and Prairie Creek areas with shad 15 feet deep.

Average water temperature is 45 degrees.

Jason Piper at J.T. Crappie Guide Services said warm and sunny afternoons are the best time to fish for crappie.

Use a minnow or 2-inch grub or swim bait around timber or large docks. Good area to fish include Monte Ne, Eden’s Bluff and Pine Creek.

White River below Beaver Dam: Lisa Mullins at the Beaver Dam Store said the top bait is a nightcrawler injected with air. Try orange or chartreuse Power Bait tipped with a waxworm.

The top lures are size 9 floating Rapalas or Colorado spoons.

Midges and woolly buggers are the best flies.

Lake Fayetteville: Dollie Black at Lake Fayetteville boat dock recommends fishing for crappie deep and slow with jigs.

Lake Sequoyah: Mike McBride at Lake Sequoyah boat dock said crappie fishing is excellent with Slab Buster jigs or any lure thatresembles shad.

Fish 3 to 7 feet deep around brush.

Lake Elmdale: Lucky Key at Duck Camp Fishing Retreat said fishing is slow.

He recommends trying for black bass with a green or brown grub or a jig and pig.

Fish slowly.

Lake Atalanta: Aaron Jolliff at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said trout fishing is excellent with Power Bait.

Devin Cook and Zack Smith, both of Springdale, weighed a 5.5-pound bass at the fishingcamp last weekend, Key said.

Bella Vista: Justin McClelland at Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista said black bass fishing is good at all Bella Vista lakes on shadcolored jerk baits or crawdadcolored crank baits.

Trout fishing is excellent at Lake Brittany on Power Bait, Rooster Tails or Little Cleos.

Swepco Lake: Kenny Stroud at BW Outdoors in Siloam Springs said black bass fishing is good with plastic worms 1 to 20 feet deep.

Upper Table Rock Lake: J.D. Fletcher at Eagle Rock, Mo., recommends using crawdad-colored crank baits or shad-colored jerk baits along points or chunk rock banks.

Eastern Oklahoma: The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation said black bass fishing is fair at Grand Lake with plastic worms.

At Lake Eucha, crappie fishing is fair with minnows or jigs 15 feet deep. The lake is 13 feet low.
