Lake Chicot amends management plan

LAKE VILLAGE — The Lake Chicot Management Plan has been revised with a single change after the public overwhelming approved moving the lake drawdown to after July 4.

Fisheries staff from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission held a public meeting last year, along with an online survey, to gauge the public’s interest in removing the 10-inch crappie length limit and changing the start of drawdowns until after July 4.

Many anglers voiced opposition to removing the crappie length limit, which was dropped from the proposed management plan. but drawdowns proposal was met with strong approval and was approved.
