— Siloam Springs couldn’t find a way to slow down Fayetteville.

The Bulldogs overpowered the Panthers in a matchup of two of the 7A/6A-West Conference’s top boys basketball teams and rolled to a 52-26 mercy rule win at Bulldog Arena.

Fayetteville (14-3, 4-0) remained unbeaten in conference play and has won each game by an average of 32.8 points per game.

“Everything we do is centered around our defense, and if we don’t guard very well, we’re average,” Fayetteville coach Kyle Adams said. “Tonight and the last two or three nights we’ve played, we’ve guarded really well.”

The Bulldogs forced 16 Siloam Springs turnovers and scored 26 points off of them.

The loss ended Siloam Springs’ six-game winning streak.

“Fayetteville’s good, we knew that coming in,” Siloam Springs coach Tim Stewart said. “But we want to put our best foot forward every time we take the floor. We came out a little sluggish and survived their first run, and I thought we got a little tentative and wide-eyed.”

Siloam Springs (13-2, 3-1) trailed 17-9 after the first period when Payton Henson banked home a shot. But that was as close as the Panthers would get.

Fayetteville opened up the second quarter scoring the first 14 points and took a 33-14 lead at halftime.

The lead grew as high as 34 points in the third quarter, and the fourth quarter was played with a running clock via the sportsmanship rule.

And it seemed like everyone got in on the act for the Bulldogs.

Cameron Paschke opened the game with two straight 3-pointers. Jawan Smith had a dunk and a 3-pointer in the first half, while Trey Boyd had a slam and Smith added another dunk.

Boyd added another dunk in the fourth quarter as both teams took out their starters and played junior varsity players.

Smith had a game-high 15 points while Caleb Waitsman had 10 for Fayetteville. Henson led Siloam Springs with 11 points.
