Home sales up, prices rising

December home sales were up slightly from last year and prices continue to rise.
Realtors sold 421 homes last month, up from 417 in December 2011, according to MountData, a real estate marketing firm. That pushed 2012 sales to 5,053, up from 5,845 in 2011.
The median sales price jumped to $152,500 in December and $141,000 for the year. The median price in December 2011 was $139,000 and last year it was $120,000.
