Man Sentenced For Child Porn

— A Fayetteville man was sentenced to federal prison Friday for receiving and downloading child pornography.

Stephen Charles Smith, 60, was sentenced to 96 months in prison and fined $5,000. Smith will serve 20 years of supervised probation upon release.

A federal task force investigating Internet crimes against children identified Smith as a suspect in May. A search warrant was served at Smith’s residence and police found multiple large screen monitors and several computers containing child pornography.

Police said Smith admitted downloading and possessing the images.

At Smith’s sentencing hearing in U.S. District Court, Judge Jimm Hendren was presented evidence by the government Smith possessed more than 25 videos of child pornography, many of which involved minors younger than 12 engaged in sadistic and masochistic conduct.
