Lincoln Teen Arrested On Burglary Charges

A Lincoln teen was jailed Thursday in connection with two burglaries of downtown businesses earlier in the week.

Justin Hellyer, 18, of 11203 E. Pridemore is being held in the Washington County Detention Center in connection with felony commercial burglary and felony accomplice to burglary as well as misdemeanor theft of property. No bond has been set.

The charges stem from break-ins at the Lincoln City Water Department, 101 E. Bean St., where four checks were stolen from a payment depository and $20 was stolen from the Davis Insurance office, 416 E. Pridemore, according to a Lincoln police report.

Hellyer was shot by Lincoln Police officer Chris Williams about a year ago after a foot chase, according to Lincoln Police officer Mike Anderson. Hellyer confronted Williams with a knife during the chase. No criminal charges were filed against Williams after a review by a special prosecutor assigned to the case.
