Fair fights off Bryant

— Little Rock Fair put some “chemistry” on the court with three players scoring at least 14 points in a 55-50 7A-6A-South victory over visiting Bryant on Friday.

Alex Barnard made 3 three-pointers and finished with a game-high 18 points. Sean Jackson picked up 14 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter and Allante Plant added 14 in Fair’s first league victory.

“It was a much needed win for us,” Fair Coach Charlie Johnson said. “We got a good home win, which is what you have to do in this conference, but we still have a long way to go. The chemistry is there.”

Barnard led Fair (5-9, 1-2) through three quarters, then Jackson took advantage of breakdowns in Bryant’s defense and Plant was 7 for 7 at the free throw line in the final quarter.

“We’re struggling in the back of our press and at times we didn’t anticipate well enough,” Bryant Coach Mike Abrahamson said.

Bryant (11-6, 0-3) didn’t struggle as much in the first half, taking six charges in the lane and getting 11 secondquarter points from C.J. Rainey sfor a 19-16 halftime lead. Rainey scored the first basket of the third quarter, but seven consecutive points from Barnard gave Fair a 25-24 lead.

Despite two baskets from K.J. Hill, who led Bryant with 18 points, Fair led 29-26 after three quarters.
