Paper’s Last Day Downtown Today

New Office Will Open Wednesday

— Today will be the final day The Benton County Daily Record will operate its newsroom out of its downtown office.

Northwest Arkansas Newspapers, owner of the Daily Record, sold the building at 104 S.W. A St. to Record Properties. The sale closed in November.

The paper will move its Bentonville office and newsroom Monday to leased space at 304 S.W. 16th St. Suite 14 in Bentonville. The office will open Wednesday.

Daily Record customers can use the Rogers Morning News office, 313 S. Second St. in Rogers, or the Weekly Vista office, 313 Town Center West in Bella Vista, on Monday and Tuesday.

Records at the Benton County Circuit Clerk’s Office show the sale was valued at about $700,000. The property and 12,000-square-foot building appraised at $568,750 in 2012.

Rusty Turner, editor and publisher for Northwest Arkansas Newspapers, said all newsroom employees who work in Bentonville will move to the new office.

The company is searching for a location for a circulation distribution center in Bentonville. Northwest Arkansas Newspapers will lease the downtown building from the new owner on a month-to-month basis until a location is found, said Jeff Jeffus, president of Northwest Arkansas Newspapers.

Northwest Arkansas Newspapers is a joint venture that formed in 2009 equally owned by Wehco Media and Stephens Media.

In addition to the Daily Record, the company also owns the Rogers Morning News, Springdale Morning News, Northwest Arkansas Times in Fayetteville and the Northwest Arkansas edition of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in addition to several weekly newspapers, magazines and websites.
