100 YEARS AGO Jan. 11, 1913 ROGERS — An enthusiastic crowd attended the good roads meeting at the courthouse and heard A. Ward King of Maitland, Mo., tell how he had worked out a good roads building plan through actual practice. The only reason roads are poor in Arkansas, he declared, is because the people do not want them good. If they wanted good roads badly enough, he said, they would have them.
