Police Unsure Who Was Driving Vehicle

— Police said a woman was injured Wednesday after her car crashed into a home on Sherman Avenue.

Sgt. Craig Stout said 22-year-old Kami Ralston was treated at Washington Regional Medical Center. Stout said the woman complained of neck pain. She wasn’t listed as a patient in the hospital’s roster Wednesday evening.

Police said the driver of a gray 2006 BMW lost control of the vehicle on Sherman Avenue, crashed through a fence and struck a house.

No one was home when the collision occurred.

A witness reported a man, later identified as 23-year-old Justin Allen of Fayetteville, was driving the car.

Allen told police Ralston passed out while driving. He said he grabbed the wheel after she swerved to avoid a collision. He steered the car through a fence and into a house at 1010 Sherman Ave. Allen said he smelled smoke and ran to a friend’s house near Fairlane Street and Curtis Avenue, Stout said.

Ralston told police she didn’t remember what happened, but said Allen may have tried to assault her.

“At this point, we don’t know 100 percent who was driving,” Stout said. “This may take a while to sort out.”

No charges have been filed.
