Bikes, Blues & BBQ to Announce Donations

— Bikes, Blues & BBQ organizers plan to give $90,000 to several charitable organizations during an event at 7 p.m. Friday at the Fayetteville Town Center, 15 W. Mountain St.

The nonprofit motorcycle rally often generates money for charity, although donations were not made in 2008 or 2011.

Joe Giles, the event’s executive director, said in an email Tuesday that in addition to the $90,000, the 2012 rally generated more than $102,000 for groups that provide contract services, such as trash pickup.

Groups that have contracted with Bikes, Blues & BBQ in the past include the Fayetteville High School Band Boosters, Fayetteville Sequoyah Kiwanis Club and Boy Scout Troop 122 in Rogers.

Rally organizers have given money to nonprofit groups such as Meals on Wheels and the Donald W. Reynolds Boys & Girls Club in the past.

Friday’s event is also an opportunity to celebrate Bikes, Blues & BBQ’s various sponsors and volunteers.
