Malvern shares well, tops Ark. Baptist

— The Malvern Lady Leopards had three players with at least 10 points each and forced 24 turnovers in a 61-34 victory over the Arkansas Baptist Lady Eagles on Tuesday night.

“We’ve got a lot of kids that can really score the ball, not only in transition but when they get their feet set,” Malvern Coach Jess Martin said. “We didn’t shoot the ball well tonight, but our defense did a good job forcing a lot of turnovers and forcing the tempo.”

Malvern (16-1, 5-0 7-4A) outscored Arkansas Baptist (8-9, 2-3) 11-2 over the first five minutes of the third quarter, stretching their 31-17 halftime lead to 42-19, and they carried a 50-24 lead into the fourth.

Alivia Huell, who finished with a game-high 15 rebounds, scored eight of her 10 points in the first quarter and helped the Lady Leopards take a 17-9 lead.
