Harps Stores Seek Alcohol Permits

— Harps Food Stores is the latest business in Benton County to apply for alcohol permits from the state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Division.

The company applied for seven permits last week to sell beer and wine at stores in Benton, Madison and Carroll counties. Benton and Madison counties voted to allow alcohol sales in the November general election.

Convenience and grocery stores around the county have been gearing up for the change. The division has received 60 applications for beer and wine permits from Benton County stores and nine permits for on-premises beer and wine service at restaurants.

A weekly report from the division lists the applications for Dec. 31 to Jan. 4 as follows: Harps stores at 715 N. Second St. in Rogers, 710 W. Centerton Blvd. in Centerton, 404 Town Center Northeast in Bella Vista, 1209 N. Walton Blvd. in Bentonville; Price Cutter Food Warehouse at 103 N. Dixieland Road in Rogers; and Harps and Price Cutter stores in Huntsville and Berryville.

Mellow Mushroom at 5204 Village Parkway in Rogers applied for a restaurant beer and wine permit. The restaurant sells alcohol as a private club. The new permit would allow the restaurant to purchase beer and wine from wholesale providers.

The first alcohol permits in Benton County are scheduled to be issued Jan. 16.
