A second high school at a reduced cost is supported by a majority of respondents who returned a survey distributed by the Bentonville School District.

The district sent out the survey to the 9,630 voters who participated in a millage increase election on June 26. At that time, 5,597 voted no to an increase that would have funded the construction of a second high school with full athletic facilities. It would have also supported districtwide technology along with heating and cooling upgrades.

Out of 3,936 surveys returned to the district, 2,334 respondents marked that they would support a second high school at a reduced cost. Another 923 people said they would not support any solution that would raise taxes for school construction. An option that stated the survey-taker would not support a second high school but would support an alternative solution was marked by 682 people.

The survey was a prepaid post card sent in the mail by district officials.
