Bella Vista Aldermen Sworn In

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

— The new City Council met for the first time Monday night after new aldermen were sworn in.

Aldermen Becky Morgan and Allen King joined former council members Jim Wozniak, Jerry Snow and Dick Rooney in taking the oath of office. Alderman Larry Wilson was sworn in at the Benton County Clerk’s office Jan. 2.

Aldermen selected Rooney to act as chairman and mayor pro-tem.

The group voted to amend the required time frame for publishing bids when purchasing large items. The city will be required to publish bids a minimum of 15 days prior to bidding deadline, with the option to allow a longer time frame if needed.

Aldermen also approved the purchase of machinery from Equipment Resource Management Inc. of Little Rock in the amount of $55,000, including delivery and a 90-day warranty.

The council will hold two regularly scheduled meetings a month — the regular televised meeting at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at Highlands Crossing Center and a work session-type meeting at 6:30 p.m. 10 days prior to the regular meeting. Details of the new second monthly meeting will be discussed.
