Activity Center Offers Classes

— The Downtown Activity Center is offering a new schedule of wellness classes with the new year.

An indoor cycling class will take participants through an interval-based ride on varying terrain. The classes are available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7 a.m. and 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.

If four or more participants sign up, the city will offer another set of classes from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A Saturday class from 9 to 10 a.m. will start Jan. 12. Cost is $30 a month.

Strong Women and Men is a 12-week strength training program designed for middle-aged or older men and women. The class is offered on Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Cost is $20 a month.

Grandmaster Han’s Martial Arts caters to all ages and trains in the Youn Wha Ryu system. It incorporates fitness elements from taekwondo, karate, hapkido, kung fu, jui jitsu and tai chi. The course is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $30 a month to attend one day a week and $40 for two days. The city also offers a discount for families with multiple participants.

A 30-minute Lunch Express class offers light cardio and strength training, along with stretching. Participants are asked to bring a mat. The course is offered from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Cost is $30 a month.

Tai chi uses flowing movements to reduce stress. The course is offered from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Cost is $20 a month.

Zumba dance courses are offered 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Cost is $30 a month.

Yoga returns with classes from 8 to 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Cost is $30 a month.
