Michigan offense rolling along

— Trey Burke had 19 points and a career-high 12 assists, part of another stellar offensive performance from No. 2 Michigan in a 95-67 victory over Iowa on Sunday.

Glenn Robinson III added 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Wolverines, who had only 17 points with 7:00 remaining in the first half before overwhelming the Hawkeyes (11-4, 0-2 Big Ten) with a flurry of dunks, three-pointers and other highlights. Michigan (15-0, 2-0) is a victory away from matching the program’s best start to a season. The 1985-86 team began 16-0.

Devyn Marble scored 14 points for the Hawkeyes, who were holding opponents to 37 percent shooting before facing Michigan. The Wolverines shot 58 percent from the field and 10 of 22 from three-point range.

Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 19 points for Michigan.

NO. 6 KANSAS 69, TEMPLE 62

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kevin Young had 16 points, hitting four critical free throws down the stretch, as the sixth ranked Jayhawks (12-1) earned their11th consecutive victory by defeating Temple (10-3).

Travis Releford added 14 points on 5-for-5 shooting, none of his baskets bigger than a three-pointer from the wing with 34.9 seconds left. With the shot-clock winding down, Releford’s shot gave Kansas a 65-58 lead.

Ben McLemore added 13 points and Jeff Withey had 8 points, 11 rebounds and 9 blocked shots for the Jayhawks, who enter Big 12 play having won 30 consecutive games at Allen Fieldhouse and 63 in a row against nonconference opponents.

Khalif Wyatt finished with 26 points for the Owls, who nearly had their second victory over a top-10 team this season. Wyatt scored 33 in an upset of then-No. 3 Syracuse on Dec. 22.

NO. 7 SYRACUSE 55, SOUTH FLORIDA 44

TAMPA, Fla. - Brandon Triche had 20 points and James Southerland scored 12 of his 17 in the second half to help the Orange (14-1, 2-0) overcome a slow start and win their Big East road opener against South Florida (9-4, 0-1).

C.J. Fair had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Orange, who won for the fourth consecutive time following a four-point loss to Temple.

South Florida trimmed an 11-point deficit to 47-42 with six minutes remaining, but the Bulls were held to one basket the rest of the way.

Southerland’s long three-pointer put Syracuse ahead 50-42, and Triche followed with a driving layup and two free throws to push the lead back to double digits.

Victor Rudd led South Florida with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Jawanza Poland finished with 12 points for the Bulls NO. 13

FLORIDA 79, YALE 58

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Kenny Boynton matched his career high with 28 points on 8-for-10 shooting from three point range and the Gators (10-2) used a 26-3 run spanning the halves to beat the Bulldogs (5-11).

Will Yeguette had 14 points and Mike Rosario added 13 for the Gators, whose losses were to No. 3 Arizona and No. 25 Kansas State. The Gators shot 60 percent from the field for the game (30 for 50), including 9 of 17 from three point range.

Justin Sears had 15 points and Javier Duren added 14 for the Bulldogs, who have lost four of five.
