Police Link Couple To Copper Theft

— Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a couple Saturday after they said the two reportedly stole $2,000 of copper from an area business.

Vikki Brianna Leslie, 25, of 1758 N. Shamblin Ave. and Charles Phillip Davidson, 39, of 4270 Whorton Lane in Springdale face felony charges in connection with theft of property, illegal dumping and hazardous substances (public health hazard).

Deputies were called to 17137 Pleasure Heights Road on Nov. 21 for a theft report.

Kyle Younger of Hutchens Construction Company told deputies someone stole $2,000 worth of copper wire, according to an arrest affidavit.

Younger said someone cut the copper wire leads and stole a spool of insulated wire, according to the report.

On Nov. 30, deputies went to 4270 Whorton Lane for a report of burning. Investigators reportedly found burn piles where copper wire insulation had been burned off the wire. The detective found an empty spool and traced it to Hutchens Construction. The owner of the property reportedly told deputies her son, Davidson, and his girlfriend, Leslie, burned the wire on her property.

Davidson and Leslie were arrested and taken to the Washington County Detention Center, but were released Saturday on $3,500 bond.
