Woman rescued after home blast

— A woman was injured in a suspected natural-gas explosion at an Oklahoma City home and was pulled to safety by a utility worker investigating a gas-leak report.

Fire officials said the woman, in her 60s, was baking cookies when the explosion occurred about 5 p.m. Thursday.

An Oklahoma Natural Gas employee was in the area investigating a report about a gas smell. He ran through the back door of the home and pulled out the woman, who was treated at the scene and refused hospitalization.

The Oklahoman reported the cause of the blast is under investigation.

Officials said the house was destroyed and surrounding homes sustained significant damage.

Deputy Chief Marc Woodard said it’s remarkable no one was killed.
