PINE BLUFF — Pine Bluff police on Friday were investigating the city’s first homicide of the year.

A police news release identified the victim as Roy Haltiwanger, 20, of Pine Bluff.

At about 3 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a report of gunfire in the area of 21st Avenue and Georgia Street, the release said. When officers arrived they found Haltiwanger on the ground between 314 E. 21st Ave. and 316 E. 21st Ave., according to the release.

Haltiwanger later died at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, the release said.
