Decatur (9-5, 2-1): M. Urquidi 12, V. Urquidi 6, Harris 6, Avery 2.

“It’s an ugly win, but it is over and we can go watch film and learn from it,” Decatur coach John Unger said.

Decatur led 18-9 at halftime but the Bulldogs made just 2-of-22 shots from the field the final 16 minutes of the game. Tanner Sweeten hit a layup to give Hackett its first lead of the game at 25-24 with 1 minute, 29 seconds left.

Decatur called two timeouts with 6.5 seconds left and Unger said the final play was designed for Victor Urquidi, who finished with six points.

“I wanted the ball in his hands, he is our quarterback,” Unger said. “We got him one-on-one over there and he made a good move, and a good shot. It went in.”

Mario Urquidi led Decatur (9-5, 2-1) with 12 points while Andrew Harris also had six points. Decatur was 2-of-8 from the free throw line in the fourth period.
