State police to form active shooter training committee

Arkansas State Police announced Friday it will form a committee to provide Arkansas school districts with a training plan for active-shooter situations.

Ken Jones, director of the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training, will be in charge of forming the committee and will begin the process in the next few days, state police said in a statement. The committee will be made of representatives of Jones' department, local sheriffs and police chiefs, state police and the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management.

The training exercise would only be offered upon request from local school districts, the release states.
