The 18 Arkansas counties hit by the Dec. 4, 2002, ice storm and the utility companies that serve those counties will spend more than $13.5 million in cleanup and utility repairs, estimates from the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management indicate. Counties could receive up to 75 percent of the costs in federal reimbursements if they are declared disaster areas by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The storm left more than 60,000 homes without power throughout north Arkansas.
