Bentonville Man Accused Of Raping, Killing Child

Prosecutors filed formal charges Wednesday against a Bentonville man accused of raping and killing his 6-year-old neighbor.

What The Charges Mean
Zachary Holly faces either life in prison without parole or the death penalty if convicted of capital murder. A kidnapping conviction is punishable with a prison sentence ranging from 10 to 40 years or life imprisonment. Holly faces from 25 to 40 years or life imprisonment if convicted of rape. A rape conviction normally carries a sentence ranging from 10 to 40 years or life in prison. A conviction of raping a child 13 or younger, however, carries a minimum sentence of 25 years. Capital murder, kidnapping and rape are classified as Class Y felonies. Residential burglary, a Class B felony, is punishable with a prison sentence ranging from five years to 20 years.
