Ozarks arts center to host 2 exhibits

The Arts Center of the Ozarks in Springdale will host Chris Engholm’s “White River Memoirs” and Deirdre West’s “A Return to Classical Realism: The Figures” beginning Thursday.

“White River Memoirs” features oils, watercolors, photographs and objects from several artists that center on the White River. The river connects the Mississippi River to the Ozarks. Engholm, an author and photographer, created the exhibit in partnership with the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale.

West’s show features a celebration of the human spirit in classical realist style of the Raphael School of Art. The exhibit features various media and settings from portraits to nudes.

A reception for both exhibits is planned from 6-8 p.m.

Ozark Guidance to host second forum

In the wake of the school shootings in Newtown, Conn., Ozark Guidance will host its second What’s on Your Mind?

forum at 10 a.m. Friday in the AT&T Room at the Center for Nonprofits in Rogers. The forum will focus on mentalhealth awareness and education and community concerns.

Experts on hand to discuss the event include Ozark Guidance Chief Executive Officer Tom Petrizzo, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Lance Foster, Chief Clinical Officer Rob Gershon and Associate Clinical Officer Lori Chalmers. Concerned residents are invited to attend.
