Police: Man Attacked Woman, Stabbed Man

— Police arrested a Springdale man Tuesday who they say broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, beat her and stabbed a man with a kitchen knife.

Robert Matthews, 26, of 2677 Kasey Ave. Apt. B faces felony charges in connection with aggravated residential burglary, first-degree terroristic threatening and two counts of aggravated assault.

Police went to an apartment on Valley Lake Drive just before 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Ashanique D. Banks said Matthews, her ex-boyfriend, kicked in the door and began punching her in the face, according to the police report.

Johnny L. Polite told police Matthews grabbed a knife from the kitchen and cut his arm. His wound was treated at the scene.

Matthews left the apartment.

Matthews was arrested Tuesday and being held without bond at the Washington County Detention Center.
