Fishing this week

— HOT SPOTSLAKE CATHERINE Large numbers of trout are in the tailrace and feeding on shad and insect hatches. Bank fishermen are catching the most fish but have been hampered by fast water close to the dam. BrightlyLake colored Power Bait, corn, redworms and wax worms Charles combined with a marshmallow floater are Black River St. Francis working best. Fly fishermen are catching River trout on Woolly Buggers, micro-jigs, San Juan worms, and egg patterns. Spin fishermen are having success using Super NORTHEAST & Dupers in silver or gold, 1/16 ounce jigs in gray EAST-CENTRAL or white, and Rooster Tails in brown or white.

LAKE CONWAY Bream fishing is fair using worms and crickets fished close to brush piles. Crappie Horseshoe fishing slowed a little, but they are still biting well Lake on minnows and jigs fished around stumps 3-4 feet

Arc deep. Bass are biting well on spinnerbaits fished 3-4 feet deep. Catfishing is fair.

LAKE DARDANELLE Bass are being caught on Alabama rigs, White jerk baits and black and blue jigs. Fish behind the jetties where River the water is clear. A lot of crappie are being taken upriver onBear Creek minnows and bubble gum jigs. White bass are being caught on small Rat-L-Traps. Catfish are being taken on cut shed. Crappie are being taken in the Narrows on minnows and various jigs.

LAKE OUACHITA Black bass fishing is good using football jigs, large spinnerbaits and Alabama rigs with shad-colored soft baits. Try areas with structure. Walleye are beginning to make their run up the rivers and major creek basins for the spring spawn. Flashy crankbaits and inline spinners should work for these fish. Striper fishing is good using Alabama rigs with three- and four-inch shad-colored swim baits or live bait. Crappie

fishing is good near and over brush in 20-25 feet of water. Fish minnows or

crappie grubs 6-12 feet deep over the cover. Catfish are being caught on cut

bait and live bait on jug lines and trotlines set 20-30 feet deep.

WHITE RIVER The water is low and clear and two to three generators are

running. Trout fishing is good using shrimp. Brown trout are biting well on

Rattlin’ Rogues and jigs.
