Cast Masters Start Season

Cast Masters bass tournament circuit begins its season March 17, and will hold 14 tournaments at Beaver Lake. Tournaments alternate between Prairie Creek and Hickory Creek parks.

Entry fee is $40 per boat.

Trail Benefits From Habitat Work

Wildlife habitat improvement work is set from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Saturday along the Eagle Watch Nature Trail at Swepco Lake.

Activities include removing plants from a prairie restoration area, removal of saplings from fence rows and taking out a section of barbedwire fence.

Michelle Viney, with Audubon Arkansas, and Terry Stanfill, trail manager, will lead the project. Volunteers should bring tools if possible, such as chain saws, loppers and garden tools.

Cleanup Spans Mulberry River

The 22nd annual Mulberry River Cleanup Day will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, headquartered out of Turner Bend store and canoe rental.

Volunteers may pick up litter along the river or along roads in the river valley.

A bonfire and refreshments are set for 1 p.m. at Turner Bend. Lunch is at 2 p.m. and door prizes are awarded at 3 p.m.

Free Fishing Seminars Set

Cabela’s in Rogers will host free fishing seminars this weekend.

Saturday’s seminars include walleye from spawn to post spawn at 10 a.m., boat control with a trolling motor at 1:30 p.m., and outfitting a fishing kayak at 3 p.m.

On Sunday, basic fly casting is at 10 a.m. Early-season crappie is at 1 p.m.

College Offers Nature Course

“Studying the Nature Around Us” is a three-session course that begins Tuesday at the College at the Crossingin Bella Vista. Class dates are March 5, 12 and 19 from 3 to 5 p.m. Denis Dean, an Arkansas Master Naturalist, is the instructor. Topics include forest habitat, early Arkansas explorers, bears and karst topography.

Longbeards Host Annual Dinner

The Benton County Longbeards chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will hold its 13th annual fundraiser banquet March 9 at the Benton County Fairgrounds on Arkansas 12 west of Bentonville.

A silent auction begins at 4 p.m. Dinner is at 7 p.m.
