Seed Swap Planned

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

— Area farmers and gardeners are invited to a community seed swap from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the University of Arkansas Global Campus, 2 E. Center St.

The event, in conjunction with the Dig In! Food and Farming Festival, is an opportunity to collect, give away or trade heirloom seeds, bulbs, plants and garden supplies. The seed swap is sponsored by the Fayetteville Community Garden Coalition and the University of Central Arkansas’ Conserving Arkansas’ Agricultural Heritage Project.

An advanced seed savers exchange is scheduled at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Global Campus. Participants do not have to bring their own seeds, but must pledge to save seeds for next year.

Herb Culver of Bean Mountain Farms in Deer will present a beginning seed savers class at 4 p.m. as part of the Dig In! festival.
