Ozark Guidance is set to open its Young Adult Transition to Independence Program (TIP), a program designed to help at-risk 18- to 25-year-olds manage their mental illnesses and learn how to live independently. An open house for the program’s new home, the recently remodeled Hemingway House, is set for 10 a.m.-noon Thursday at 2514 S. 48th St. in Springdale.

Clients in the program are served by a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, nurses, mental-health professionals and mental-health paraprofessionals through Ozark Guidance’s Intensive Outpatient Program or through the group’s Adult Residential Program. Residents are invited to celebrate the program’s opening and to learn about the program.

‘Celebrate Art!’ show opens Thursday

The Arts Center of the Ozarks in Springdale will host the 14th annual “Celebrate Art!” exhibit Thursday through March 28. The exhibition features 300 pieces of lively, colorful artwork from students in kindergarten through the eighth grade.

Students in Benton, Carroll, Madison and Washington counties were invited to participate. A reception for friends and family of the artists is planned from 1-3 p.m. March 9.

DanceBrazil, a dance group formed in New York in 1977, will perform at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville at 8 p.m. Friday. The group is known for its unique performances and dazzling artistry inspired by the culture of Brazil.

The company combines Afro-Brazilian movement, contemporary dance and Capoeira, and a traditional and complex joining of dance and musical elements. The performance is part of the arts center’s 10x10 Art Series.

The group will also host two dance workshops Thursday - an Afro-Brazilian dance workshop from 5:30-7 p.m. and a Capoeira workshop from 7:30-9 p.m. Both workshops are designed for dancers 14 and older with some dance experience.

Tickets for the show cost $10-$25. Workshops cost $20 each.
