Gluten-free offerings

— Some gluten-free products worth stocking in your pantry: Pamela’s Artisan Flour Blend.

Think of this as the gluten-free answer to all-purpose flour.

Bisquick Gluten-free mix. This mix can be twice the cost of regular Bisquick, but if you’re craving pancakes, you can’t go wrong with this mix. It can also be used to make crusts (pizza, pot pie), dumplings and biscuits.

Cup4Cup All-Purpose Gluten-Free Flour Blend. This product was developed by professional chefs for use in Thomas Keller’s French Laundry restaurant. The blend can be used cup for cup as a substitute for wheat flour. This flour isn’t cheap though - a 3-pound bag of Cup4Cup brand flour replacement at Williams Sonoma costs about $20.

Bob’s Red Mill. Bob (yes, there is really a Bob) offers a wide range of clearly labeled gluten-free products, including specialty flours and mixes.

Bear Creek Country Kitchens.

For those days when you want something quick, Bear Creek offers several gluten-free soup mixes including Darn Good Chili, Cheddar Potato, Cheddar Broccoli, Clam Chowder, Creamy Potato, Creamy Wild Rice, Navy Bean, Split Pea and Tortilla. These soups lend themselves well to a variety of add-ins such as meats and vegetables and can be the showcase for a full meal.
