Man Gets 35 Years For Sexual Abuse

— A registered sex offender was sentenced Monday to 35 years in prison after he admitted he sexually abused three girls.

Jimmy Allen Martin, 37, of Siloam Springs pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, a Class Y felony; and sexual assault in the second degree, a Class B felony. The plea came under an agreement Deputy Public Defender Sarah Ashley reached with Deputy Prosecutor Bonnie Bridges.

Martin was arrested June 6 in connection with sexually abusing two girls ages 15 and 12. He was arrested a week later in connection with sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl.

Court documents reflect the oldest and youngest girls told police Martin sexually assaulted and raped them since each was 8 years old. The 14-year-old girl also disclosed Martin had sexually assaulted her, according to an affidavit of probable cause. The crimes took place at Martin’s residence, court documents state.

Martin admitted to police he sexually abused the girls, according to court documents.

Martin is a Level 2 sex offender after being convicted in 1993 of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Circuit Judge Robin Green accepted the plea agreement and Martin’s guilty plea. Martin was sentenced to 35 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. He must serve at least 70 percent of the sentence before he will be eligible for parole. Martin must abide by a 10-year suspended sentence agreement after his release from prison.

Martin was ordered to not have any contact with the three victims and cannot have any unsupervised contact with any minors. Martin must complete the prison’s sex offender treatment program and pay $1,620 in court costs. He received 256 days of jail credit for the time he spent in the Benton County Jail awaiting trial.
