Estrada Shines As Bentonville Wins Season Opener

Tayler Estrada recorded a first-half hat trick and assisted on two other goals to lead Bentonville past Fort Smith Southside in the season opener for both teams Monday at the Tiger Athletic Complex.

Estrada, a Kansas signee, nailed her first goal at the 9-minute mark. She struck again at the 32-minute mark, with an assist from Makenzie Dixon, then added her third goal four minutes later, with an assist from Annea Helgren and Dyann Shade.

Dixon and Shade each added a goal in the first half to help stake the Lady Tigers to a 5-0 lead, with Lauren Powers recording two assists and Helgren adding another. Estrada recorded her assists in the second half as Helgren and Lauren Cowgur scored goals. Shade also had an assist on Helgren’s goal.

Bentonville finished the game with 27 shots, 13 of them on goal. Gabby Miller recorded two saves for the Lady Tigers, who are scheduled to play at 7 p.m. today at Tulsa (Okla.) Union.
