— BASKETBALL Odom to speak at Tip-Off Club

Former Wake Forest and South Carolina Coach Dave Odom will be the guest speaker today at the Downtown Tip-Off Club at the Wyndham Riverfront hotel in North Little Rock.

Odom compiled a career record of 405-279 over 22 seasons at East Carolina, Wake Forest and South Carolina before retiring in 2008.

He won the NIT with Wake Forest in 2000 and with South Carolina in 2005 and 2006. He was named Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year in 1991, 1994 and 1995 and SEC Coach of the Year in 2004.

Lunch will be served at 11:15 a.m. and the program begins at noon. Admission is $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers.

BASEBALL Harding falls at home

Southern Nazarene scored five runs in the sixth inning on its way to an 8-4 victory over Harding on Sunday in Searcy.

Southern Nazarene (4-8) collected five hits in scoring five runs off Harding’s Zac Stewart in the sixth to take an 8-4 lead. The Bisons (7-2) were held to two hits the final four innings.

Kyle Atkins, Trent Wooldridge and Jeremy Bohnett each had two hits for Harding.

GOLF Meason leads Razorbacks

William Meason shot a career-low round 1-under 71 Sunday to lead Arkansas in the first round of the John Hayt Invitational at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

Arkansas finished Sunday at 5-over-par and in a tie for ninth place. North Florida is in the lead with a 12-under par.

Meason made three birdies in the final sixth holes to finish at 1-under. Sebastian Cappelen shot an even-par 72, while Austin Cook and Thomas Sorensen each shot 3-over par.

TENNIS Arkansas tops Tulsa

Sarah McLean and Brittany Huxley won their singles matches to help Arkansas rally for a 4-3 victory over Tulsa on Sunday in Fayetteville.

McLean beat Michelle Farley 7-5, 7-5 at No. 3 singles and Huxley’s 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Carol Benito at No. 6 singles clinched Arkansas’ victory.

The Razorbacks also got singles victories from Kimberly-Ann Surin, 6-2, 6-2 over Maria Sant’Anna at No. 4 singles and Ana Lorena Belmar-Hernandez, 6-4, 6-3 over Saana Saarteinen at No. 5 singles.

Tulsa won two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
