New Walmart Neighborhood Market set for Southwest Bentonville

A new Walmart Neighborhood Market is set to open in Bentonville's fastest growing area this fall. Southwest Bentonville will be home to the 41,179-square foot market at the northwest corner of Southwest I Street and Southwest Regional Airport Boulevard.

The new development was announced Monday at the Bentonville-Bella Vista Chamber of Commerce.

Mayor Bob McCaslin said the new store will help make southwest Bentonville a better place to live in the "underserved" area.

Bentoville has invested millions of dollars in infrastructure improvements in the area, including revamping Southwest I Street and designing a new community center that will break ground this year.

"The infrastructure and foresight of the city is what made this happen," said Brian Hooper, vice president of real estate for Walmart.

Construction is set to begin in 60 to 90 days and will wrap up by the fall, Hooper said. The store will be the second Walmart Neighborhood Market in Bentonville. A third store is planned for development at the Midtown Shopping Center in downtown Bentonville.
