— SUN BELT UALR 2-2, SIU-EDWARDSVILLE 1-0

Seniors Chance Cleveland and Blake Huffman pitched UALR (4-2) to a doubleheader sweep of SIU- Edwardsville (1-5) on Saturday at Gary Hogan Field.

UALR won the first game 2-1 and the second game 2-0 as Cleveland and Huffman picked up the victories, combining for 14 innings and 14 strikeouts.

SIU Edwardsville scored its only run of the day in the first inning of first game, thanks to a Trojans error.

Cleveland bounced back from a season-opening loss to Evansville by striking out eight over eight innings, allowing three hits and walking one. Cleveland 17 of the final 19 batters he faced.

ASU 1-6, W. ILLINOIS 2-3

JONESBORO - The Arkansas State baseball team (5-1) split a doubleheader with Western Illinois, falling 2-1 in the opener before bouncing back to win the second game 6-3 win at Tomlinson Stadium and Kell Field.

Red Wolves pitchers limited the Leathernecks to five runs on 14 hits while striking out 20 batters. ASU, held to six hits in the opener, had 11 in the second game.

John Koch took the loss in the opener despite allowing two runs in seven innings. Daniel Wright (2-0) picked up the second-game victory, giving up six hits while striking out eight over seven innings Levi Shordon allowed one hit over the final two innings in relief to collect the save.

Logan Uxa led ASU with three hits and two runs batted in. Dustin Jones and Collin Massanelli both recorded two hits and Massanelli was one of four A-State players with at least one RBI.

SOUTHLAND CENTRAL ARKANSAS 9, KANSAS 3

CONWAY - Jeffery Enloe scattered 10 hits and struck out 10 to help Central Arkansas (5-1) beat Big 12 member Kansas (3-3) at Bear Stadium.

Enloe (2-0) allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, and walked 1 for UCA’s first complete game of the season.

The Bears trailed 2-0 after the first inning before scoring three runs in the second and four in the third to pull away from the Jayhawks.

Shortstop Justin Treece went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI. Second baseman Blake Marcal also finished 2 for 4. Left fielder Tyler Langley went 1 for 2 with 2 RBI.

Justin Protacio and Tucker Tharp each had two hits for Kansas.

SWAC/SOUTHLAND MCNEESE STATE 2, ARKANSAS-PINE BLUFF 0

LAKE CHARLES, La. - McNeese State’s Blake Ware allowed two hits in a complete-game shutout of Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Cowboy Diamond.

Lucas Quary and Chayse Marion had RBI singles for McNeese State (2-3).

Jim Ploeger took the loss for UAPB (2-5), allowing 2 runs on 6 hits in 5 innings.
