Crafty Cottage ready to move

Bentonville business Crafty Cottage will celebrate its fourth birthday during a party celebrating a new location. The business is staying in Bentonville but is moving from 225 S. Main St. to the Copper Ridge Center at 2800 S.W. 14th St., Suites 6-8.

Ceramic painting, craft classes and party space are among the offerings at Crafty Cottage.

Gigi Crow, who owns the business with her husband, Jeff, said it was time to find a larger space with more parking. The larger space can hold up to 80 people, Crow said.

Crafty Cottage is to open March 1 in Cooper Ridge Center.

The store is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

New family clinic open in Rogers

Apex Family Medical Clinic opened Jan. 2 and celebrated its ribbon-cutting Friday.

The independent family medical practice is at 5206 Village Parkway, Suite 10, in Village on the Creeks in Rogers.

Dr. Caleb Gatson founded the clinic, which also features in-house laboratory and X-ray services.

The clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and can be reached at (479) 657-6600.

Local businesses earn AAA awards

Northwest Arkansas was well represented among the three hotels and two restaurants in the state to earn AAA’s Four Diamond Award for 2013.

In the hotel division, Pratt Place Inn in Fayetteville won the award for the fifth year and Angel at Rose Hill in Eureka Springs for the 15th year. Also named to the list was The Capital Hotel in Little Rock, its sixth year on the list.

James at the Mill in Johnson was named to the restaurant list for the 16th year. Ashley’s at The Capital Hotel in Little Rock made the list for a sixth time.

Mike Right, AAA vice president, said hotels and restaurants earnings Four Diamond Awards account for less than 4 percent of the 59,000 AAA-rated lodgings and restaurants.

Conference focus on technology

The Information Technology Research Institute at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas will hold the ninth Women in Information Technology Conference on March 7-8.

Kim Clower, director of information technology for General Motors, and Meg Greenhouse, vice president of strategy for innovation, governance and communications for Wal-Mart, will be keynote speakers at the conference. The Celebrating Innovation and Developing Opportunities for Women in Technology event will be at the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Enterprise Development on the University of Arkansas campus.

On Thursday, conference participants will tour the new RFID Research Center Facility, and attend a dinner and ceremony recognizing recipients of the Aspirations in Computing Award.

The second day features session topics such as the state of women in information technology, cloud computing, innovation, mobile security and building effective relationships. There will also be a panel discussion on celebrating innovation and developing opportunities for women in technology.

Educators can receive eight professional development credits and a 20 percent discount on the registration fee.
