Vegetables make you strong like Popeye, give you super vision like Superman and can give you long, healthy hair like Rapunzel. So go the stories of childhood.

But did you know vegetables can also help neutralize odors?

According to the folks at Caldrea, vegetable proteins take away bad smells. So they combine those proteins with some degreasing birch bark and a few difficult-to-pronounce ingredients for their Countertop Spray.

The result is eco-friendly, organic and safe for finished surfaces such as tile, woodwork, laminate, porcelain, fixtures and stone.

To clean up all manner of nasty spills, you just spray and wipe.

And while it removes a foul odor, it leaves a nice one behind. The Lavender Pine scent is more pine than lavender but immediately evokes Christmas trees. The spray also comes in other very fancy-sounding scents: Sea Salt Neroli, Basil Blue Sage, Ginger Pomelo, Mandarin Vetiver and Palmarosa Wild Mint.

At $9 for a 16-ounce bottle, it’s not cheap, but it works well, smells great and, for an extra dose of “fancy,” has French on the label.
