Boeing to revamp battery, build bigger box to curb fire, CEO says

United Airlines hopes grounded 787s will fly by June

Boeing 787 jets nearing completion are parked at Paine Field in Everett, Wash. Congressional officials said Boeing proposed a repair for the 787’s batteries to ensure any short-circuiting won’t lead to a fire.

Boeing on Friday proposed a long term fix for the 787 Dreamliner’s troubled batteries that will keep them grounded until April at the earliest, congressional officials said.
