CONWAY — The Conway Wampus Cats used a 16-0 run to seize control and pulled away for a 76-62 victory over the Greenwood Bulldogs at Buzz Bolding Arena.
With the victory, Conway claimed the fourth seed from the 7A/6A-Central Conference in next week’s Class 7A state tournament at Fayetteville. That did not look so likely in the first half, as the Bulldogs matched Conway shot for shot.
Colton McEvoy’s basket midway through the second quarter gave Greenwood a 30-28 lead. But Conway would score the final 10 points of the half, and then opened the third quarter with six consecutive points. The Bulldogs went more than six minutes of the game without scoring.
Justin Leon led Conway with 19 points. Ethan Clark had 20 points for Greenwood.
