— BASKETBALL Crawford traded

The Washington Wizards sent Jordan Crawford, who has led the team in scoring 17 times this season, to Boston Celtics for center Jason Collins and injured guard Leandro Barbosa at Thursday’s trade deadline. A streaky scorer, Crawford carried much of the offensive load in November and December, but he has been unhappy with his role since John Wall returned from a knee injury last month. Crawford, a 2010 first-round draft pick, was acquired two years ago from the Atlanta Hawks at the trade deadline. His average of 13.2 points is still third on this season’s Wizards despite his recent dip in playing time. Only rookie Bradley Beal has scored more total points, but Washington was only 1-11 with Crawford as a starter. In exchange, the Wizards get two players who will be free agents this summer - and one of them is already out for the season. Barbosa tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in a loss to the Charlotte Bobcats earlier this month.

The Orlando Magic have agreed to trade veteran shooting guard J.J. Redick, center Gustavo Ayon and reserve point guard Ish Smith to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for guards Doron Lamb and Beno Udrih, as well as forward Tobias Harris, said a person familiar with the situation. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal was not officially complete. In his seventh season, Redick, a former first round pick, was a coveted name on the trade market. A 2006 Orlando draft selection, he is averaging career highs in points (15.1) and field goal percentage (45.0). Redick is in the final year of a three-year contract.

The Miami Heat traded backup center Dexter Pittman and a second-round pick in this year’s draft to the Memphis Grizzlies for the rights to center Ricky Sanchez. Pittman appeared in only four games this season for Miami. Over Pittman’s three seasons, he played in 41 games, almost all as a reserve, and averaged 2.8 points. Sanchez is playing in Argentina and does not count against one of Miami’s 15 roster spots. Sanchez was selected by Portland in the second round of the 2005 draft, and has never appeared in the NBA.

The Atlanta Hawks traded guard Anthony Morrow to the Dallas Mavericks for guard-forward Dahntay Jones. Atlanta acquired Morrow from Brooklyn in the off season trade that sent Joe Johnson (Little Rock Central, Arkansas Razorbacks) to the Nets. Morrow, slowed by right hip and back injuries, averaged 5.2 points in only 24 games with the Hawks. Jones, in his 10th season, has averaged 3.5 points in 50 games, including 15 starts. His contract expires at the end of the season. He averaged a career-best 10.2 points with Indiana in the 2009-2010 season.

A person familiar with the situation says the Charlotte Bobcats have acquired Josh McRoberts from the Orlando Magic in exchange for Hakim Warrick. The 6-10 McRoberts, who played at Duke, has played in 41 games this season with three starts and is averaging 3.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Warrick, in his seventh NBA season, was acquired earlier this season in a trade with the New Orleans Hornets. Since joining the Bobcats he has averaged 6.9 points per game and 3.2 rebounds, but his playing time has diminished in recent weeks.

The Phoenix Suns again have a set of twins on their roster after making a trade to bring Marcus Morris from the Houston Rockets. The move, officially announced by the Suns on Thursday, unites Marcus with identical twin brother Markieff in Phoenix. Only once before in NBA history have twins played for the same team, when Dick and Tom Van Arsdale were together with the Suns in 1976-77. The Suns sent a 2013 second-round draft pick to Houston to get Marcus Morris, who was the 14th pick in the 2011 draft. Markieff was the 13th pick overall by Phoenix. The twins played together at Kansas.

The Golden State Warriors have completed trades sending forward Jeremy Tyler to Atlanta and guard Charles Jenkins to Philadelphia. The moves made just before Thursday’s trade deadline allow the Warriors to shed salary and get under the league’s luxury tax. Golden State received cash and a protected second-round pick from Philadelphia and cash and future draft considerations from Atlanta. The Warriors drafted Tyler and Jenkins in the second round in 2011. Both have played sparingly this season.

Orlando Magic point guard Jameer Nelson has been diagnosed with a strained left knee patella tendon. The team said in a statement Thursday that the veteran’s return will be determined after further evaluation when he returns with the team Saturday from its current road trip. The Magic play at Memphis today. Nelson was injured in the fourth quarter of Orlando’s 111-96 loss at Dallas on Wednesday night. He has missed 11 games this season.

FOOTBALL Sandusky to appeal

Jerry Sandusky’s attorneys have notified his trial judge that he wants a state appeals court to overturn his convictions for molesting boys. Attorneys for the former Penn State assistant football coach filed a pair of appeal notices Thursday that indicate Sandusky wants the state Superior Court to take up his convictions on 45 counts of child sexual abuse. The notices were filed in the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte, Pa., the site of his three-week trial last summer. Last month, the trial judge rejected Sandusky’s post sentencing motions, including an argument that his attorneys lacked sufficient time to prepare for trial. Judge John Cleland also rejected motions regarding jury instructions, hearsay testimony and a comment by the prosecution during closing arguments that referred to the fact that Sandusky, who did not testify at trial, gave media interviews after he was arrested in November 2011. Sandusky is serving a 30- to 60-year state prison sentence for the sexual abuse of 10 boys, including violent attacks inside Penn State athletics facilities.

TENNIS Semifinals set

Former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova overpowered defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska 6-2, 6-4 Thursday to set up a semifinal against Caroline Wozniacki in the Dubai (United Arab Emirates) Championships. Wozniacki, once ranked No. 1, defeated Marion Bartoli 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, capitalizing on 14 double faults and 46 unforced errors by her opponent. Two double faults cost Bartoli games in the second set. Doubles specialist Roberta Vinci of Italy surprised former U.S. Open champ Sam Stosur 6-2, 6-4 in their quarterfinal. She will next face doubles partner Sara Errani, who downed Nadia Petrova of Russia 6-4, 0-6, 6-3.
