Won’t veto secret-gun-list law, Beebe says

Posted: February 21, 2013 at 11:38 a.m.

Gov. Mike Beebe said Thursday that he will not veto Senate Bill 131, which makes secret all personal information of concealed-carry permit holders in the state.

Beebe had previously opposed the bill.

The legislation shrouds the names of about 130,000 people in Arkansas who are permitted to carry concealed handguns. State law currently allows the state to release the names and ZIP codes of permit holders.

In a statement, Beebe cited overwhelming support in both state Legislature chambers and a lack of constitutional concerns in his decision to let the bill pass into law without his signature Monday.
