— Oscar Escareno scored all of his 11 points in the first half, and Lincoln’s boys needed clutch free-throw shooting in the fourth quarter Thursday night to pull off a 54-49 upset over Subiaco Academy in the Class 4A North Region Tournament.

The win means the Wolves (14-14) will play again in a 6:30 p.m. Saturday semifinal and advance to the Class 4A State Tournament in Cave City.

Lincoln took a 44-38 lead into the fourth quarter, then preserved that cushion despite hitting only one field goal in the final eight minutes. The Wolves, however, hit 10 of 14 from the line in the fourth quarter.

Payton Hulse had the bucket, then added a free throw to complete a three-point play after Subiaco — the top seed from the 4A-4 District — had trimmed the Wolves’ lead to a 48-46 margin.

Hulse finished with 15 points to lead Lincoln, the No. 4 seed from the 4A-1 District, while Shandon Goldman added 10. Chris Reed had 23 and Cash Krueger added 18 for Subiaco.
