Posted: February 21, 2013 at 11:05 p.m.

— Tara Arnold scored 10 of her game-high 19 points in the third quarter Thursday and helped Gentry’s girls rally to a 54-42 upset over Dover during first-round action in the Class 4A North Region Tournament.

The win propels the Lady Pioneers — who finished fourth in the 4A-1 District Tournament after finishing sixth in the regular season — to a 5 p.m. semifinal game Saturday and a trip to the Class 4A State Tournament next week in Cave City.

Arnold’s performance highlighted a 23-8 run in the third quarter. Gentry (12-17) turned a five-point deficit into a 38-29 lead heading into the final eight minutes of play, and Dover — the 4A-4 District Tournament champion — never recovered.

Arnold finished with 19 points, while Destiny Thomas added 15 and Haley Borgentein-James chipped in 12 for Gentry. Kaitlin Meador finished with 14 and Carlee Williams 10 for Dover.
