Washington Regional Medical Center will host Day of Dance for Your Health from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Northwest Arkansas Mall Center Court in Fayetteville.

The event is designed to promote dance as a healthy way to combat heart disease. The event will feature numerous performances by local dance groups including TerraNova Tribal Bellydance Co., the McCafferty School of Irish Dance, Arkansas Dance Connection and the Sophisticated Ladies of Bella Vista.

Children will also have a chance to participate in an open dance with Rhythm and Shoes Pee Wee Dance Co. at 10:50 a.m.

Hastings to lead local dance classes

Broadway star and Arkansas native Bill Hastings will offer three modern dance and Broadway dance classes Saturday and Sunday at the Fayetteville Dance Center.

Dancers 16 and older with at least three years of dance experience can sign up for a modern dance class set for 2 p.m. Saturday. Cost to attend is $25.

Beginners ages 16 and older can take an introductory class about modern dance at 4:15 p.m. that day for $15. A Broadwaystyle dance class for experienced dancers is set for 2 p.m. Feb. 25.

Registration costs $25 for that class. More information is available by calling (479) 521-2453.
