CHALK TALK UAPB fell out of a tie for first place in the SWAC standings with Saturday’s loss at Texas Southern. Now the Golden Lions trail Texas Southern and Southern University of Baton Rouge by a half-game with four regular season games remaining. UAPB beat Prairie View 55-51 in the teams’ first meeting last month, a game in which junior forward DaVon Haynes had 13 points and 15 rebounds.

CHALK TALK Junior guard Christina Lasane has turned into UAPB’s most reliable scorer down the stretch. She’s led the Lady Lions in scoring in three of the last four games and is averaging 14.5 points over that span. Before a Feb. 4, Lasane had led UAPB in scoring just two other times this season. In Saturday’s loss at Texas Southern, Lasane was 6 of 7 from the floor and made 3 of 3 three-pointers and finished with 17 points.
