Benton County’s sheriff upholds our honor

CUB REPORTERS on the police beat quickly learn the way to talk in the jailhouse. If you’re there to report on a promising educational program, or doing a feature on the prison’s new menu, or just being escorted around a courthouse by a trusty, you soon find out that you don’t ask an inmate what he did to find himself a guest of the state.

>>No, no. For said reporter would quickly hear something like: “You mean, what did they charge me with?”<

Lest our ignorant, pandering editorial "board" forget many are held in Benton Co jail have been convicted of nothing. I personally know one woman who, after having bought a new car on Friday, spent the weekend in their jail for having no license on said car because she was thought to resemble someone BSO wanted.
Upon her release (mistaken identity) she rec'd a bill for her meals at BCO jail, plus a fee for dispensing her meds every day.
People who love freedom and liberty stay out of Benton County.

Cdawg, no one is charged a fee to stay in jail. A fee for dispensing meds? Also not true. If she received meds while in jail she would have been charged a fee for the medication itself. Also, she would have only been charged with a fee if she had the means to pay. An indigent inmate would get medication at no charge. Your information is inaccurate.

Besides being fired, those three jailers should be charged with assault.
